We have a new logo!
Posted on July 25, 2008
Well, I have been thinking about a new logo and I finally tried my hand at design. A friend of mine had done a logo for me at the beginning (a whole few months ago) that had butterflies in it and I LOVED it. Don’t ask what happened to it. LOL! She then made me a different one and as much as I liked it, the butterfly just stuck in my head. So I threw this one together and found this font and fell in love! Why the butterfly? I have multiple reasons.
The first is that my oldest daughter reminds me of a butterfly in that she never really stops moving, she flutters from here to there to everywhere. Even when she is still she is still moving something, just like a butterfly pumps their wings even at rest.
The second is that, to me, it fits the name “At Last”. A caterpillar becomes a butterfly “At Last” after a long wait and a lot of work just as I strive to be a better photographer through a lot of work. So I am striving to be that butterfly and it encourages me to try harder everyday.
The third and final reason is that I just like it!
That’s what matters, right? I hope you like it, as well!

Tag! You’re it!
Posted on July 22, 2008
I’ve been tagged by a wonderful photographer named Christina! You can check out her blog at and enjoy her outlook on life. I am now supposed to tell you 5 things about me.
1. I have been a violinist for 31 years. I am 33 years old so that is some interesting math for you!
2. My profession before having children was Athletic Training. Before you ask me to be your personal trainer, Athletic Training is defined as “The Care and Prevention of Athletic Injury” and all that entails. It is a VERY time consuming profession and I enjoyed it thoroughly. It just makes it harder for me to be the attentive parent I like to be.
3. I have been a proud Military Family Member (read Dependent) my entire life. My father was in the Navy and then the Army, my brother is in the Air Force, my Grandfather was in the Army and my other Grandfather was in the Navy. Now, my husband is a United States Marine and very proud to serve our wonderful country in good times and in bad.
4. To go along with number 3, I have an insane obsession with Flag Etiquette. Please, make sure you are flying the colors correctly! The blue field of stars is displayed to the left when hanging vertically.
I may be that crazy customer who will come into your place of business to buy something and then tell you that your flag is incorrect!
5. I love Triathlons. I used to do them before I had my first daughter and will, I will, I will do one again! My goal is next spring.
Now it’s my turn to tag some other photographers in their blogs! Please, visit them and enjoy their wonderful and inspiring work!
- Meet Jess of Charmed Photography at She is the reason I got started in this business and one of my closest and dearest friends.
- Meet Lisa of Windwardskies Photography at . Lisa is who I wanna be when I grow up in this business. She is amazing and creative and talented…Look at me, I’m gushing!
- Meet Sara of Sara J. Smalley Photography at . She pushes me to get out and shoot even when I’m in a funk of self loathing in my photography. She is an amazing strong person and dedicated mother.
- Meet Rachel of Rachel Schell Photography at . Without her, I would have a horrible website and still be struggling to learn html and css! She is an amazing photographer and an inspiration to me.
- Meet Jennifer of Fingers to Toes Photography at Her work is full of laughter and fun! I enjoyed looking at her blog and laughing with her.
So now it’s your turn. Go tag 5 blogs and pass on the fun! I look forward to reading more about all of you!

Jenny and Rick
Posted on July 14, 2008

When I told them I wanted to try this shot, I got a funny look.
But I think it turned out really cute!

I knew when I shot this one that it was going to be one of my favorites. The look on her face is priceless and just shows how much fun she was having!

They were totally hamming it up for us here. Jenny gave her ring back to Rick and told him, “Nope, not anymore!”

I love everything about this photo, the color, the parasol, and most importantly, their expressions! What a great time!

What is a sunset shoot without actually watching the sunset!? Thank you, Jenny and Rick, for being such willing and fun models!

This couple was so natural and sweet together! They were up for whatever I threw at them and were very gracious when my brain decided not to function properly! Thank you both for a great time!
