Daddy’s Home! | Hawaii Operation: Love Reunited Photographer

Posted on August 21, 2010

As an Operation: Love Reunited Photographer,

I always get to see other Service Members returning home.

This time, after 7 months, it was finally OUR turn!

My daughters got to meet Daddy separately since Elizabeth was still in school when he landed.

I told Colleen that morning so that she could get excited.

I found out through our Family Readiness Officer, Ed Hanlon, that we could meet Doug at the gate

through a USO program!  Doug was NOT expecting us to be right there!

(Thank you, Ed, for the help and video!)

Elizabeth had no clue!

My friend, Autumn, picked her up from school and took her to Ala Moana Beach Park

under the auspices of some fun in the sun with friends.

It was so much fun surprising her!

(Thank you, Autumn, for helping with the surprise and video!)

I thought I'd try something new and put the video together with the pictures and add a little music!

Enjoy!  We did! ;)

Welcome Home J Daddy! | Hawaii Operation: Love Reunited Photographer

Posted on August 11, 2010

Last Friday, we welcomed home the

USS Russell

and @troycutchens.

@Joscie was the first person to contact me when I announced that I had joined

Operation: Love Reunited

back in June!

I was excited to hear from her and happy to do this session!

One of the hardest things about Navy Homecomings,

Or any Homecoming for that matter,

is the wait while your loved one is so close you can see them!

Troy snuck up on us from behind as we were looking towards the ship!

Sneaky, sneaky!

They were all happy to see him, too!

I think he was happy to be home, as well.

Finally!  Time to take him home!

Welcome Home, Troy!

Coming Home | Hawaii Operation: Love Reunited Photographer

Posted on July 14, 2010

One of my favourite things of living this Military life is

HOMECOMING!

It is always such an emotional time for the families.

Today, we welcome home Sgt. Adkins and his Unit!

The worst part of the whole day is the waiting!

It seems like you've been waiting for so long already and the last couple of hours just DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!

But, you keep your chin up and enjoy the happy atmosphere.

You can feel the buzz of excitement!

And then they march in!

And we sing the National Anthem because we are PROUD to be Americans!

We are PROUD of our servicemen.

We are PROUD of ourselves for having made it through another trial.

Erin, your face while looking at the flag during the Anthem really moved me!

It's exactly how I feel.

Then, FINALLY, they are released and you get to run to your loved ones.

It goes by so fast you aren't sure how you got to him and feels a little surreal.

Can it really be true that he's home?

You betcha!

I have to say, it's a little hard to shoot through tears!

I just met this family and it still got me all verklempt.

They were so (understandably) happy to be reunited.

And then the best part of all…

You get to take him HOME!

Welcome home, Sgt. Adkins!

Apology | Hawaii Newborn Photographer

Posted on May 28, 2010

I feel like such an idiot. I've been wondering why I haven't had any contacts or inquiries through my site for a few weeks now. Why it took me this long to question it, I don't know. It's been quite a while since the last contact notice has hit my inbox.

So, today I decided to check my settings, etc. Lo and behold there it was! Somehow an incorrect email address was entered in as my contact email! That email account didn't even exist!

So for any of you out there who may have been trying to contact me, I sincerely apologize for my mistake! I promise I didn't ignore you! I just never got your inquiry!

I do hope that all y'all will forgive me for my stupidity and give me another chance!

Tag Line Contest | Hawaii Family Newborn Photographer

Posted on April 11, 2010

I have been trying to come up with a "tag line" for my photography.

You know, like

Nike's "Just Do It",

Coke's "The Real Thing",

and so many others.

A friend suggested that I ask my loyal followers for their ideas.

So, I'm asking y'all to give me your thoughts.

Have a look at my images,

think back to your session,

let me know,

in 5 words or less,

your idea for a tag line.

What's in it for you?

The winning idea will receive a

FREE print up to a 16×20 size!

FREE!

That means that, if you win, you can choose either:

1.)   An image from one of your sessions

or

2.) Any one of my landscape images

in up to a 16×20 sized mounted print.

How do you enter?

Just leave a comment at the end of this post!

Easy peasy, right?!

I will leave the contest open until

Sunday, April 18th at Midnight.

The winner will be announced on

Wednesday, April 21st!

Good Luck and Mahalo for participating!

And because no post is complete without an image,

here is one from my trip to the Big Island last week!

So many more to come!

EasyRider Homecoming | Hawaii Military Life Photographer

Posted on December 16, 2009

Flightling Sunrise

Yesterday morning was a glorious one for the family of my dear friend, Liisa Roberts.  Her husband is finally home after a long 6 month deployment.  6 months may not seem long to some, but when you are a de facto single mother and self employed rising star photographer, it is a long rough road.  I was honored to be a part of this Homecoming.

Det 4 Comes in for a landing

Welcome Home, Brian!  I know that your family missed you very much and are SO relieved to have you home again!

Ugly Angels Homecoming- Hawaii Family Photographer

Posted on August 19, 2009

When I was contacted to do this homecoming, my heart just sang.  This little guy had yet to meet his Daddy, as he left just days before he was born!  Having been in a similar situation just two short years ago, my heart went out to the family.  I wanted to capture those special moments of Daddy meeting son.  I am so happy to have been a part of the Weaver family’s joyous day!20090818_8839blog

Can you believe those eyes with those GORGEOUS eyelashes?!

USS Tuscon Change of Command

Posted on March 14, 2009

Here are a few from the USS Tuscon Change of Command on February 27th. This was a little outside of my comfort zone, as I am not truly an event photographer. I would like to thank the Commodore’s wife for giving me some good tips on what to look out for!
